The Roath Park Project was a wonderful opportunity to work with a distinguished period property that had recently been extended. The brief was enhancing its functionality for modern life while infusing each space with warmth, character, and individuality.
As with many period homes, the house’s elongated proportions created a sense of formality and distance. Our task was to soften these lines and bring a sense of flow, balance, and comfort.

Reimagining the Entrance Hall
The long hallway, typical of homes from this era, felt imposing and disconnected. To transform it, we introduced a defined entrance area, anchored by striking artwork and a beautifully styled sideboard. This thoughtful intervention created a purposeful transition - a gentle pause between the bustle of the outside world and the serenity of home.
Revitalising the Back Room
Often in heritage houses, the “back room” can feel forgotten. Here, we reimagined it as a dual-purpose gym and laundry space. By balancing practicality with considered design, we turned a once-overlooked area into a room that supports daily life while still feeling elegant and refined.
Transforming the Garden
The cold, paved rear garden lacked warmth and comfort. We redesigned it as a lush, green oasis - an inviting retreat for alfresco dining and intimate gatherings. Now, it serves as a private escape for family and friends, seamlessly extending the living space outdoors.
A Curated, Contemporary Classic
Throughout the home, we curated a selection of art, objects, and furnishings designed to bridge the decades. Each piece was carefully chosen to respect the property’s 1920s origins while embracing the spirit of today’s owners.
A light, refined palette and gracefully scaled furniture ensured the rooms felt airy and uplifting, while delicate details sat effortlessly within their charming period surroundings.

The Result
The Roath Park Project demonstrates how thoughtful interior design can honour a home’s history while making it truly work for modern living. By layering period charm with contemporary touches, we created a home that feels elegant, personal, and deeply connected to its owners’ lifestyle.
