COLCHESTER AVENUE INTERIORS

This lovely family home needed some much-deserved attention in a couple of hardworking areas of the house. The clients approached me to help transform their utility room, which had become a damp, neglected space that no one enjoyed spending time in.

To tackle the underlying issues, we boarded the walls to address the damp and commissioned bespoke cabinetry to house the washing machine and dryer, creating a practical and beautifully integrated solution. A new sink and tap were installed, and we added open shelving and baskets to maximise storage and help the space function more efficiently for busy family life.

The real joy was in the colour choices - the cabinetry was finished in a bright, uplifting coral, while the walls were painted a soft, warm pink, completely transforming the atmosphere of the room into one that feels cheerful and inviting.

In the study, we stripped out the tired carpet to reveal and sand back the original floorboards, adding warmth and character with a natural rug. The existing built-in cupboard was given a new lease of life with a fresh coat of inky deep blue paint, creating a striking focal point. Carefully chosen accessories and styling details completed this calm, practical workspace.

"Kate is amazing! She prepared our house top to bottom, craftspeople, lighting, curtains, small decoration details and even bedsheets. We literally walked into a house we have never been in before, all set up for us."

- Giri Das, Cottrell Garden Project
