BLOSSOM DRIVE HOME
This full interior design and project management commission saw a long-standing detached family home - untouched for over 30 years - transformed into a serene and sophisticated retreat. Deeply loved by its owners, the house held many memories, and the clients were keen to refresh their home rather than relocate, despite being unsure of the direction the redesign might take.

Khaya Studio was appointed to guide them through the entire journey, from concept development to final delivery, helping to uncover a design vision that felt both meaningful and enduring.

Through thoughtful conversations, we discovered the clients’ love of travel and their appreciation for distinctive, characterful hotels. This became the foundation of the design concept: a layered interior that blended warmth, elegance, and subtle worldly influences.

DESIGN INTENT
​​​
The living and dining areas were softened with a neutral base palette, punctuated by accents of mustard yellow inspired by their travels through Asia. Rich, tactile materials - walnut, marble, brass, and blackened metal - were introduced to add depth, contrast, and a sense of quiet luxury throughout the home.
​
In the kitchen, a considered and cost-effective approach was taken. Rather than replacing the cabinetry, the upper units were resprayed in a cool grey, instantly refreshing the space while retaining its original framework. The cloakroom, by contrast, was fully reimagined with new tiling, wallpaper, and contemporary fittings, becoming a confident and characterful moment within the home.

Upstairs, the bedrooms - once occupied by children and now largely used for storage - were rethought to accommodate visiting grandchildren. Each of the four bedrooms was restyled with new colour palettes, furniture, and curated accessories, creating spaces that feel calm, welcoming, and ready to be enjoyed.
THE OUTCOME

The completed Blossom Drive Home is a cohesive and elegant family residence that reflects both the clients’ personal story and their evolving lifestyle. The interiors feel layered yet calm, sophisticated yet inviting - a home that has been thoughtfully renewed rather than completely reinvented.

This project highlights how sensitive interior design and project management can breathe new life into a well-loved property, creating spaces that feel current, comfortable, and deeply personal for years to come.
